Don’t Miss Out!
The Lightning experience is Salesforce’s next product evolution. It is designed to help users work more efficiently while delivering a modernized, easy to use look and feel. Every year, more and more customers are looking to make the jump from Classic to Lightning. However, there are still plenty of folks who are on the fence and need a little push. Here are 5 major differences between Lightning and Classic that will leave you asking, “Why aren’t we on Lightning yet?”
5. Seamless User Interface Built for Productivity
There is no question Lightning has a much improved and easy to use User Interface. Record Pages now have a nice and easy to understand tabbed view; with a tab for displaying related lists (1), a tab for displaying record data (2), and a side panel with a new ‘Lightning only’ Activity Timeline (3). The Activity Timeline helps users keep up with their customers with Tasks, Emails, Phone Calls, and more in as little clicks as possible.

Lightning also provides a built-in tool called the App Launcher. Open the App Launcher from any screen in Lightning, allowing the user to navigate to any page they have access to – Apps, Tabs, List Views, Objects, etc. A Search Bar is included with the The App Launcher and allows a user to quickly filter to the exact item wished to be found. The App Launcher is also available within Classic, but an administrator must give their users access to it via a profile or permission set setting, which is more work for the user.

4. Daily Tasks and Salesforce Assistant
Lightning comes with a Tasks tab that acts as a hub for all tasks a user has set up for themselves. In Classic, an Administrator manually creates a central location for all tasks. Lightning makes figuring out your daily To-Dos much faster. Lightning also provides several Task List Views by default such as Today’s Tasks, Overdue Tasks, Recently Completed Tasks and many more.

On top of this Lightning also has a built-in Assistant on the Home Page, which displays your most important upcoming tasks. With Assistant, users will know exactly what they need to focus on each day from the moment they log in.

3. Filter List Views and Reports on the Fly
Changing displayed data on a List View in Classic can be a pain. The only way to filter data is by editing the whole template. With Lightning, users can filter their data quickly without ever having to leave the screen.
Simply click on the right side of the ListView to open the Filter Tab. Filters are added or removed and saved using this control. Once saved the List will automatically refresh itself. This ease of filter use is also included in Reports.

2. Custom Lightning Components
The Lightning interface is built entirely out of small, one-page applications called Lightning Components. Salesforce allows developers to use the Lightning framework to build custom components. With a skilled team of developers, companies can build upon their environments to match their specific business needs or improve current process efficiency. Included with Lightning is the tool Lightning App Builder (LAB). Users work with LAB to create custom pages built using Lightning Component collections. In the LAB, users drag and drop components into the page, designing it to their will. On top of the custom components, Lightning supplies their own Standard components to use on pages – For example Record Details, Related Lists, Tabs, or even Classic Visualforce Pages.

1. Salesforce Mobile App
The number one item in our list of reasons why Salesforce Lightning is better than Classic is all about mobility. The Salesforce Mobile App was built utilizing the Lightning Component Framework! Anything available in Lightning is also available on the mobile app. The mobile app makes Lightning available on the go so users can get their work done even if they are not at their desks. When users can work wherever they want, whenever they want, good things tend to happen for their company. Admins also have the ability via the LAB to design pages specifically for mobile, not just Lightning on the web.
Do It!
These are just a few of many reasons why Lightning is the way of the future for Salesforce. It is obvious the folks here feel that Salesforce Lightning is better than Classic. If your company has been looking to make the shift over to Lightning but just doesn’t know where to start, the team here at CloudFirst Labs have helped numerous customers with their conversion and would be happy to help you too!
