This certainly applies to sending mass emails to your valued customers. In fact, depending on your account level, you can send emails to up to 5,000 external email addresses per day, per organization.
If you’re not currently harnessing the power of that feature within Salesforce Lightning, then you’re missing out on a lot of potential leads and conversions.
Follow our step-by-step guide on how to send mass emails in Salesforce Lighting to ensure that you get the most out of your customer relationship management system.
Understand the Basic Functions of Salesforce Lightning
Salesforce Lightning launched on October 17th, 2015 and became fully available at the beginning of 2016.
This means that, if you’ve purchased a license in the past few years, you’re likely accustomed to the way Lightning works.
Even though Salesforce Lightning looks like a mere “update” of sorts to the classic platform, many people have wondered how it affects Salesforce email marketing.
When comparing Salesforce Classic vs. Lightning, you’ll see that you don’t lose many features by switching over to the newer version. In fact, you’ll find that you mostly gain access to new features.
This includes features such as integrated email and templates, lead conversion customization, and the ability to find and merge duplicate leads.
Mostly, you’ll find that Lightning improves efficiency with the new features that it offers.
You can still send mass email lists, but some of the functions and names are different. This is usually where users tend to get confused, and rightfully so.
Here’s how to send a mass email if you’re used to working with the classic Salesforce and have recently switched over to Lightning.
How to Send Mass Emails in Salesforce Lightning
The biggest thing you’ll need to know about Salesforce email in Lightning is that mass email is now “List Email.”
Once you understand this change, most of the subsequent steps are the same as they were in Classic. Now, on to learning how to send a mass email.
At the top of your screen, you’re going to find “Contacts” to view the entire list of your contacts.
By default, the program selects “Recently Viewed,” so be sure to switch back over to “All Contacts” to get a more complete view of your sales records and clients.
Because you have “All Contacts” selected, you’re going to need to go through and uncheck any people that you don’t want to send the mass email to.
Make sure to double and triple check this, as you don’t want to send the wrong email to the wrong customer.
If you want to filter email recipients by a name or other specifier, then click on the Show Filters button at the top right .
This will prompt you to “Add Filter,” which means you can filter out contacts according to Campaign Member Status or whatever criteria you choose.
Once you have all of the Contacts verified, select all :
Then click the arrow box in the right corner.
You’ll see a drop-down menu that will allow you to choose “Send List Email.”
The email editor will pop up, allowing you to draft your email and attach any included documents or files.
Click Send, and you’re done!
You will receive a summary email from Salesforce letting you know your List Email was processed and a link to view details about the email.
Creating a Professional Mass Email
Now that you know how to send a mass email in Salesforce Lightning, you’ll want to think about best practices in regards to email marketing techniques.
Mass email isn’t something that you should take lightly. If it helps, you might want to consider creating email templates.
When the email editor shows up, you can search for a template email or use merge options to include custom parameters that personalize the email.
If you’re in the editor, you’ll see a button to the left of the send button that allows you to use Templates.
You can choose “Insert Email Template” to choose from a template that you’ve used before or create a new email.
Either way, think about the various professional ways to end an email and perform A/B testing to see which Call To Action (CTA) leads to more conversions.
Try to find a way to make mass email templates as personal as possible while still being general enough to send to hundreds or thousands of people on your email list.
You’ll also want to factor in the Salesforce mass email limits. Depending on your plan, you can send:
- 250 emails if you have a Professional account
- 500 emails if you have an Enterprise account
- 1,000 emails if you have an Unlimited or Performance account
Keeping these email limits in mind will help ensure that you manage your email campaigns effectively and can cultivate the right kind of email marketing list.
